A DOOR BETWEEN GENERATIONS: urban regeneration project

The ‘A Door Between Generations‘ project consists of an intervention aimed at encouraging and supporting the activation of urban regeneration processes that combine sociality, innovation and the environment through the regeneration of the Giovanni Martini Municipal Sferisterio (19th century) in Bagnacavallo. The intervention extends to the Pieve-Masiera Street route in order to foster the emergence of a context of intergenerational value in which services and initiatives are transversal and the connection of association networks in the area is encouraged, according to principles of environmental sustainability and historical-architectural enhancement.
The proposed intervention on the Sferisterio and Pieve-Masiera Street consists of eliminating degradation and risk situations, improving accessibility conditions, sustainability and resilience features, and restoring functionality with the aim of experimenting with new functions as well. The Sferisterio will become a space for diverse temporary uses aimed at an intragenerational community that includes frail and young people (recreational, recreational, cultural, educational, sports, musical and theatrical events, health and wellness promotion, and for fairs). The intervention will serve as a trigger by promoting possible uses and functions of the space for temporary uses that also pursue public and social purposes and create the ideal environment for the development of virtuous processes of social innovation.
Pieve-Masiera Street will acquire the function of a strategic slow and fast mobility link usable even by fragile users, functional, safe and with improved performance in adapting to climate change.
