Restoration and enhancement of the Historic Gardens in Naples
The project for the restoration and enhancement of the Historic Gardens of the Monumental Complex of the former Monastery of Saints Severinus and Sossio in Naples aims to encourage the opening of such a significant complex to the public through a partial musealization and accessibility of its open and enclosed spaces, with the purpose of returning to the city a heritage of history, art, culture and documentation. The project is aimed at the restoration in particular of the historic gardens of four atriums within the Grand Historical Archives, together with the functionalization of the spaces and the provisionof a digital and innovative infrastructure aimed at creating new opportunities for the enjoyment, observation and dissemination of what is present through botanical, artistic, historical and technological use themes and paths.
The project combined garden restoration, pathway rethinking, accessibility but also physical and digital infrastructure aimed at monitoring. The complex thus also becomes a thermometer for the study and evaluation of climate change impacts in the context of monumental architectural heritage. The project is part of the actions funded under PNRR Mission 1 Component 3.
